Magnetite-ballasted high-rate clarifier

A high-density magnetic ballast is added as a nucleus for the floc, making it denser and faster-settling.
As with sand ballast, effluent quality and surface loading rise together and the footprint falls.
The MagCo-Tube draft-tube system holds the flocculation performance of the system.
Magnetite-bearing sludge is recirculated from the bottom of the settling zone to the magnetic mixing zone. Surplus sludge is sheared and homogenised in a high-shear unit, then passed through a dedicated magnetic separator that recovers the magnetite; only the waste sludge leaves the system.
